CIO Executive Council Regional MeetingJoin the CIO Executive Council's interactive sessions and exchange insights about critical issues. The CIO Executive Council opens its regional meeting to qualified IT executives at IT360°. A global member-led executive organization, the CIO Executive Council consists of current and future business leaders working to impact the intersection of business, technology and strategy. Members are located all over North America and beyond. Regional meetings in major cities provide them an opportunity to meet other local CIOs to exchange insights about issues most important to the membership and the rest of the IT community. Every attendee will take away valuable insights and be able to apply them to their jobs. This unique meeting will offer a workshop roundtable on topics of interest, an IT Vendor Relationship Workshop and a lively cocktail reception. The main objective for all Council meetings is to provide an opportunity to network with IT leadership peers, discuss current challenges, and get up to date with the Council's 2008 initiatives. CIO's must be proactive in the collaboration and partnering that will close the age-old gap between business strategy, IT and execution. Luncheon: Dr. Bruce Metz Meeting the Leadership Challenges of Today's CIOs In order to align IT with the business and achieve major organizational change, CIOs must deal with a range of increasingly difficult leadership challenges that go well beyond technology. Dr. Metz will discuss the often overlooked, seldom taught skills and competencies that CIOs must have to meet all of these challenges successfully. Participants will have an opportunity to share their ideas, experiences and advice about how best to face the various challenges in the CIO role. BIO: Dr. Bruce A. Metz, PhD., has an extensive track record as a CIO, including more than twenty years in senior management and executive IT positions for leading organizations in health care and higher education. Currently CIO at Thomas Jefferson University, a major academic medical center in Philadelphia PA, Dr. Metz oversees IT strategy development, implementation and operations to enhance the institution's competitive position in education, research and clinical care. 1:00pm to 2:30pm Challenges Workshop Roundtable - Trends/Topics of Interest Join this facilitator-led roundtable discussion where participants trade experience-based tips and advice to solve your immediate leadership, organizational or technology challenges. 2:30pm to 3:15pm CIO Executive Council presentation What do "Business Strategist" CIOs do Differently? Council Managing Director, Shaw Lively, presents practical information on what distinguishes CIOs who act as business strategists according to the Council's Future-State CIO model. 3:30pm to 4:30pm IT Vendor Relationship Workshop CIO attendees and executives from sponsoring IT vendors will work together to brainstorm ideas and define best practices for optimizing their relationships and building true partnerships in specific aspects of the overall vendor-client interaction. 5:00pm to 7:00pm Reception and Dinner Please join us for a networking reception and dinner at the Baton Rouge Restaurant and Bar.
